Although aesthetics play a very important role, I have come to the conclusion over time that wearing comfort is at least as important. After all, we put it on our wrists every day, so it’s nice when it fits comfortably and doesn’t get in the way. Record Heritage does it perfectly. I will say more, for an automatic chronograph from this price range, the watch is perfectly sized.

Record Heritage in numbers is as follows. The case is 40 mm in diameter, 48 mm lug-to-lug, 13.8 mm thick (including the convex glass) and 30 m WR. On the wrist it is even better. Slightly contoured lugs and a flat caseback ensure that the case perfectly wraps the wrist. A lot of the merit of the steel bracelet – one of the two options with which you can buy a watch. The bracelet, typical for the Record line, is composed of rows alternately finished with satin finishing and polishing of the links, well fitted together and appropriately thick. The whole thing is fastened with an integrated butterfly with a pair of security buttons and an embossed brand logo.

Chronograph with chronometer

Another big plus is due to Longines for maintaining a moderate thickness of the case with the use of an automatic mechanism. Typically, this type of construction in watches from the Longines level is distinguished by their enormous thickness. Here we managed to keep the decent size and full functionality of the caliber.

The Longines caliber L895.4 has a power reserve of 59 hours, an anti-magnetic silicon balance hair, a COSC chronometer certificate and quite a decent array of decorations. Through the window of the caseback you can see pearls and a rotor decorated with Geneva stripes, with a cut logo and gold engravings. The L895.4 is also functionally pleasant, with comfortable operation of the stopwatch, even in the absence of a column wheel.

Verdict

After several weeks of wearing the Record Heritage model on a regular basis (surprisingly in the name without Chrono), I liked it enough to subjectively assess that it is the most interesting “new” Longines model in recent months. The watch looks great, has a lot of classic charm and details, and is also great to wear – I enjoyed fastening it on my wrist every morning.

Longines Record Heritage costs exactly PLN 14,740 in both versions. This makes it one of the more expensive models of the brand, but at the same time the price is absolutely adequate to the offer. A well-made, functional automatic chrono usually has to cost a little more, and Longines made sure to add quality and detail to the complication. Of course, aesthetically, it is a watch aimed at lovers of classics and minimalism, and I am definitely one of them. I am pleased with one more aspect. In watch discourse, there is often the topic of using such a sports complication as a stopwatch in a classic watch. Record Heritage proves what I have been saying with conviction for years – properly designed and made, a chronograph can be an absolutely classic, which will add a touch of versatility.
