How to treat dandruffs in coloured hair?
Having a dry scalp means that the scalp does not produce enough oil which is called the sebum. As a result, the hair looks dull and the scalp becomes itchy and flaky. It one has already coloured their hair, then it tends to get drier.
Dandruff and coloured hair
In case of coloured hair, one needs to provide more nourishment to both the scalp and hair strands. One has to give some deep root conditioning to it. It is a good idea to go for a hot oil treatment. But one also needs to make sure that the oil should not be too hot. This has to be done at least twice a week because it helps to moisturise the scalp and soothe it as well. If there is a dandruff issue in the oily scalp and coloured hair, then one needs to use a good dandruff shampoo for color treated hair on a daily basis to make it better.
Home Remedies that one can try
Apart from anti dandruff shampoos one can also use some home remedies in order to get rid of the white flakes:
Apple Cider or White Vinegar
Apple Cider Vinegar is great for hair health. One tea spoon of ACV with 2 egg whites can be mixed with 2 table spoons of olive oil to prepare a perfect hair mask. Apply it on the hair and keep it covered with the shower cap or a towel for an hour. Then, one can wash it with a mild shampoo. This will not only make the hair stronger but will also bring back the lost shine. The egg whites and the ACV can help in removing the loose white flakes from the scalp.
Use of baking soda can lead to an itch free and flake free scalp. One can wet their hair well and then rub a spoonful of baking soda on the scalp. Then one needs to use a plain water to rinse and wash it off. Baking soda actually reduces the overactive fungi that cause dandruffs. One’s hair will seem to be a bit dry on the first few days but later the scalp will start producing natural oil which will make the hair free of flakes and soft as well.
One can take a few orange peels and 5 to 6 table spoons of lemon juice and put them together in the food processor. Blend them till they become a smooth paste. Then gently apply that paste on the scalp and leave it for 30 minutes. Then it should be rinsed and washed again with a mild shampoo. The orange peel has acidic properties which help to reduce the excess oil and make the scalp better.
One can ask a skin doctor that what is the best dandruff shampoo for color treated hair before picking one up and using it. Once picked, the medicated shampoo can be mixed with a regular mild shampoo and then can be applied on hair on a daily basis.
